Equipment Recommendations
The Fit To Her Core program inside the Awakened To Her Core Coaching Collective is designed specifically to be completed at home and work with limited equipment. There are some things you’ll definitely need, and others that are nice to have.
You will want:
- A set of kettlebells
- A set of dumbbells
- Resistance bands with handles (these also look decent) (a third option)
- Bands without handles (can be used for pull ups, assisted push ups, etc.) (here’s another option)
- A yoga block
- A CHEAP WEDGE (comes with two, can be used together for squats and apart for single leg exercises)
- A pair of yoga tune up balls
- A foam roller
Instead of paying high shipping fees on weights, you can also keep an eye on local options: Try Costco, Target, Wal-Mart, Play It Again Sports, and even Facebook Marketplace.
What size weights should I buy?
Let’s say you are a true beginner and haven’t lifted weights much at all. A set of 10-12lb dumbbells, an 8kg kettlebell, and a 12kg kettlebell should serve you well!
If you are an intermediate lifter, I suggest a set of 20lb dumbbells, a 12kg kettlebell, and a 20kg kettlebell.
If you are more advanced I suggest a set of 25-35lb dumbbells, a 16kg kettlebell, and a 24-28kg kettlebell.
Remember, I want you to challenge yourself, NOT make the exercises impossible!
Additional items that would be nice to have:
- An airex pad
- A bench (more options from Rogue and Ironmaster)
- Suspension Trainer or Rings
- Garage gym pull up bar or doorway bar (the Ironmaster bench has a chin-up attachment)
- A mini-band (here’s another option from Perform Better) (in order of least → most resistance: green, blue, black) OR you can buy a set
- A stability ball
- Door anchor for resistance bands
- Gym Boss timer (or download an interval timer app to your phone)
My Story
I know firsthand what it's like to focus so much on the welfare of your family that you wake up one day and not know who you are outside of 'mom'.
I remember having this realization one fall afternoon while I was watching my little boys play in the driveway and all of a sudden I was just consumed with this feeling of feeling like a shell of a person.
Mom mode was all I knew. I didn't know how to be any other way.
Sound familiar?
And I knew it was time to wake up to myself again and be more present to myself as well.
Shortly after that realization, I started giving myself permission to let go of so many of the “shoulds” that we moms get caught up in when it comes to motherhood.
I decided I was going to let motherhood be about BOTH me and my family.
That I was going to feel good in my body, strong, confident, and connected in my body rather than just accepting that motherhood takes a toll on your body and not doing anything about it.
That I was going to stop the nonsense and reprioritize myself as well as my family because I'm also part of my family!
That I was going to answer the Universe's nudge to create more time and space for personal development and spiritual transformation.
And I want the same for you!
Let's get you back to feeling strong and confident in your body and living a life that reflects the best version of yourself!
